Day 1

Paro – Thimphu

On Arrival you will be received by Ecohunters Partner Team at the Airport. The ride from Paro to Thimpu is covered in 1.5-2 hours with mesmerizing views of the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. On arrival in Thimpu explore the country’s only iron bridge built in 1420 , restored in 2005 after being washed away in floods. Crossing this very old bridge with its swaying ,undulating movements with remarkable views is quite an experience.

Day 2

Sightseeing in Thimphu – The Worlds Highest Capital City

We continue to explore Thimpu- Bhutan’s largest city and its Capital. We visit some of the countries renowned historical, ancient sites including the office of the Golden Throne.

Day 03

Druk Wangyel Festival

The festival is usually a a one day affair. It depicts the rich tradition, custom and culture of the Bhutanese people. Spend the entire day at the festival ground which is at 10,400 feet . The Highlights of the festival are

After sending the day at the festival, we drive to Punakha which is a approx. 2.5 hours from the festival grounds.

Sightseeing in Punakha

Punakha was the capital of Bhutan and the seat of government until 1955, when the capital was moved to Thimphu. It is located at an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level and rice is grown as the main crop along the river valleys of two main rivers of Bhutan, the Pho Chu and Mo Chu. Dzongkha is widely spoken in this district. Activities in Punakha :

Hike to Paro Takstang and a Hot Stone Bath!

The Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a sacred Buddhist site located near Paro, Bhutan. It was constructed in 1692, around the cave where Guru Rinpoche first meditated, the event that introduced Buddhism into Bhutan. There is a legend that Guru Rinpoche was carried from Tibet to this location on the back of a tigress, thus giving it the name “Tiger’s Nest.”
Hike Facts :
Distance : 4 miles or 6.5 KM- Round Trip > Highest Elevation: 10,232 feet > Elevation Gain: 1700 ft > Total Time : Allow 5-7 hours
Hot Stone Bath : A must do experience. Picture this – Round River stones, roasted in fire (Yes) until red then gradually dropped into water scattered with Artemisia leaves in a huge wooden washtub!
Day 07

Paro – Departure

Bid Goodbye to the Himalayan Kingdom, but only until your next visit 🙂 , Post breakfast, start your drive to the airport, at least 4 hours prior to the departure time.
